1. What is Watercolor painting?

Watercolor is a very dynamic and fast medium of painting. As the name suggests Water+Color, this medium uses a lot of water mixed with very little amount of pigments. This makes each layer very transparent and light and at the same time adds a lot of freshness to a painting. An artist has to plan the painting before he picks the brush because in watercolor you cannot easily correct a mistake. Transparency is the key trait of a watercolor painting.

2. What material is required to learn during Watercolor painting courses?

The key things required, to learn watercolor painting are: Watercolor sheet, watercolor tubes or cakes, round brushes, and a palette.

• Paper: Use a 200-300 GSM watercolor sheets. Watercolor sheets are partially or entirely made of cotton. This is the reason, they soak water and give the appropriate texture.
• Colors: You can use watercolor tubes or cakes. Some of the colors commonly used in paintings are: Vermilion red, alizarin crimson, cobalt blue, persian blue, ultramarine blue, lemon yellow, chrome yellow, sap green, viridian green, and burnt sienna.
• Brushes: Buy a set of round brushes for watercolor. You will also need a few flat brushes for certain washes.
• Palette: It is better to use a medium size palette as its easier to hold while painting. The palette must also include wells where you can store the paints from tubes.

3. How is watercolor different from oils and acrylics?

In acrylic and oil paintings, you can paint a layer of color on the previous one. But in watercolor, when you paint with another color on the previous layer, it results in a third color. Layering adds another dimension to your watercolor painting.

Unlike acrylic and oils, watercolors dry very quickly. This also means that you have to think fast and paint faster. This is both challenging and fun for an artist. A fast medium like watercolor gives complete freedom to put down the deluge of thoughts and expressions in the mind of an artists on the paper when he sees something interesting. The results too are immediate and fast.

Yes, you can attend our upcoming Watercolor Workshop also called as Primer. Primers (Online Watercolor workshops) are a window to the Watercolor course. You can also call it a live online Watercolor workshop. In Primers you make a simple Watercolor painting yourself in a live session. Registration to the watercolor workshop is on a first-come-first-served basis.

21. Is it necessary to attend Level 1 to enroll in level 2?

Yes, it is advisable to build competencies of Level 1 live watercolor course before enrolling in Level 2. If you already have proficiency in topics covered in Level 1 online watercolor classes then you can directly enroll in Level 2 live watercolors lessons online. The topics of level 1 will not be taught again in Level 2 live watercolor painting online classes.
